Classification:

Lactobacillus Bulgaricus, most commonly known for its ability to ferment milk into yogurt, is a very useful bacteria.

Its scientific name is lactobacillus delbrueckii.

It is Anaerobic, meaning that it does not need oxygen to support its own life. This, however does not mean that it cannot live with oxygen. It just doesn't need it.

Also, it is rod-shaped, just like the other bacillis bacteria.

Staying in place is the only option for the non-motile bacteria.

Here is a "Bacteria tree" that shows Lactobacillus Bulgaricus' lineage.

  • Kingdom: Bacteria
  • Phylum: Firmicutes
  • Class: Bacilli
  • Order: Lactobacillales
  • Family: Lactobacillaceae
  • Genus: Lactobacillus
  • Species: Lactobacillus bulgaricus

Gram Stain:

Gram staining is a method that pronounces diffrences between two bacteria. The diffrences are labeled gram-positive and gram-negative. This classifcation is reached depending on the bacteria's ability to keep the violet color when the color is attempted to be taken away via an organic solution (ethanol, etc.).

Lactobacillis Bulgaricus has been found to be gram-positive.

This actually doesn't match what a L. Bulgaricus bacterium would look like.

Lactobacillis Bulgaricus would not have a flagella, since is non-motile.

Our team would have loved to present to a detailed diagram of Lactobacillis Bulgaricus to you, with all the flashy lights included; but, alas, the internet is stupid, and will give us no pictures for the sake of our work. We appologize for our lack of visuals in the form of diagrams.
